Fort St. John Rules - FaceBook:
Did you know FSJ has 7 well known book authors, 2 olympic gold medals, a CBC hockey broadcaster plus many more interesting locals who have made a splash in the big stage?
Have look!

Got touring stuff?
I am bicycle touring around Ontario this summer and am looking to buy used panniers and a single-wheel trailer (Bob brand or similar).
Are any riders in the club looking to divest themselves of any touring gear?
Thank you!

Final Roubaix Cup results
Written by Pat Ferris
Monday, 26 March 2012 02:42
After three tough, cold, wet and snowy Roubaix Cup races, it all came down to a final sprint between leaders Pat Ferris and Kevin Shaw. The two had left the other riders behind and were sprinting for the finish line. Pat Ferris pulled out from behind Kevin Shaw to pull ahead, winning by the narrow margin of about a foot. Their time for the 27 km loop was 57:48 minutes. 2010 winner Gary Hilderman out sprinted George Gamble for 3rd at 58:43 and Dan Webster was 5th at 59:48.
A dozen riders came out under warm +5 conditions on the Two Rivers Loop. The first split came on the gravel uphill and downhill with Ferris, Shaw, Hilderman and Gamble pulling away on the muddy section. Ferris and Shaw pulled away for good at the last gravel hill to head for the finish. The pair headed into the finish with Ferris jumping around Shaw near the line and holding him off for the close win.

Other finishers were Gord Harris 1:00:10, Barb Polehoykie 1:05:51, Davide Loro 1:09:27, Kelsey Young 1:09:33 and Adam Currie 1:10:32. 2008 winner Bob Andrews won the 17 k event with 38:14 and Dian Loro second at 49:45.

Pat Ferris wins the 'Winter Classic' Roubaix Cup for a record 5th time with 14 points and two stage wins. He first won this in 1998. Kevin Shaw was second with 13 points, 2010 winner Gary Hilderman 12, George Gamble 11 and Dan Webster 10.

Thank you Sandra McDonald for timing and bringing hot chocolate for us!

Next Sunday is a paved road race under (hopefully) warm spring conditions. The route is from Humpty's to the Beatton Park road, out to Montney Store and the Old Montney highway back to Humpty's for a 60 km distance. There will be a 25 km distance available as well. Start time is 2 pm.
