Best bikes - How can they ALL claim to be the 'Best Bike' ? |

Q: I see a number of bicycle company's claiming they make the 'Best' bikes. How can they all be the best?
A: Big dollars for advertising does not mean they are necessarily the best! Which bike's win all the races?
Have you seen a car company tell you they weren't the best? Car companies have done this for years because all of them (apparently) make the best cars!
They clearly all can't be the best!
Q: How do I decide which the 'best' if the advertising is not trustworthy?
A: Make sure it is the right bike and correct size for your purpose. Does the shop know the difference?
95% of a complete bike is 'equipment' - shifters, brakes, wheels, steering, drivetrain, wheels, tires..all of which is going to be made by either Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo.
The frame with that 'I'mBest' or 'TopWorld' etc. on it, is only a small part of that complete bike, yet is the most heavily advertised part.
Q: What do the pro's ride?
A:Pro roadies, MTB'ers and Tri's ride whatever they are told to ride which is often a custom frame you can't even buy. It might even be another manufacturer's frame in a 'team' paint job, which will have to have either SRAM or Shimano or Campagnolo equipment on it, anyway. A dozen large frame companies in fact build frames for 75% of the bike frames out there. Few actually make their own and will say right on them, if they do. 'Designed' means made someonwhere else by a huge frame factory. 'Made in Canada' or 'Made in Italy' means just that.
Q: So, does the 'Best Bike' win all the races?
A: Look below at what the winners' rode in 2011to the gold medal podium.
Winner Tour de France: BMC, Winner world DH Downhill: Giant, Winner Mn Cyclocross: Ridley, Winner road: Specialized, Winner road Wms: Stevens, Winner Wms Cross country MTB: Orbea, Hawii Ironman Wm: Cannondale, World Protour Ranking #1 rider: Canyon etc.
Wouldn't the 'Best' win them all, according to their advertising claims?
You may not have heard of some of these bike companies who have small advertising budgets or prefer to just let their quality and winning record speak for themselves.
Don't let Advertising Executives and shop commissioned salesman tell you who is the best : ) !
