Blizzard Bike Club Fort St. John, BC Sept 24, 2008

The results are finally in for the long awaited Worlds Masters Time Trial Challenge. The Blizzard Bike Club was 8th of nine clubs entered, with a total time of 35:42 minutes. They were only 9:12 minutes short of the entry from Redbridge, England, who were in 7th place.
The Blizzards were the first riders to have their event July 20th, but had to wait for the other clubs to complete their events at later dates. All the times of all the clubs were compared on the internet.
The BC Masters club from Vancouver Island won with a total time of 1:23:17 hours, edging out the Ontario Masters at 1:18:25 and unseating the perennial former winner the Edmonton Masters who had 1:17:34 hours.
The total time is the fastest five (over 30 age) riders. Each rider beats a set time standard and ‘banks’ that time towards the team total. This year, Pat Ferris, Bob Andrews, Sam Keats, Richard Wood and Roger St. Jean had the top times for the club.
Organizer Bob Andrews was pleased with the club’s first time in this event. He will try for a flatter 40 km circuit and a few more riders to beef up those times for next year. He also wants to get the minimum five Masters Age women out next year, to enter a Women’s team, as well.
