Blizzard Bike Club Fort St. John, BC March 21, 2008
The Grande Prairie boys picked up wins in the opening events of the Spring Stage race, Friday. Geoff MacDonald won the tough and cold Beatton Hill Climb while team mate Blaine Richter won the afternoon Beatton Park road race.
Both races were Challenge Cup events. The Blizzards picked up 110 points to GP’s 42 and Dawson Creek’s 4.
Stage #1 – Beatton River Hill Climb 3 km (-11 degree’s!) 1st Geoff MacDonald at 25:38, 2nd Blaine Richter 25:51 and 3rd Pat Ferris 26:44. Gary Hilderman had 26:59 for 4th and Bob Andrews 27:42 for 5th.
Stage #2 – Beatton Park Circuit Road Race 30 km (-1 C ) 1st Blaine ‘Cannonball’ Richter 2nd Geoff MacDonald and 3rd Robin Baillie in a very close sprint finish at 59:02 minutes. 4th went to Pat Ferris at 1:01:00 and 5th Robert Martens of Calgary at 1:01:57.

Next up:
Stage #3 -1 pm - Sat road race: (all paved) 60 k (20 k flat race available) - Beatton Park - left at Montney Store-ride west to Alaska highway intersection- turnaround and return to Beatton Park via Montney Store.
Stage #4 -1 pm - Sun road race (all paved) 80 k (20 k flat race available) Humpty's to Alaska hwy - right on Beatton park road - right Montney store- back to Humpty's via Montney Creek steep hills.
