Blaine ‘Cannonball’ Richter of GP won the tough stage #5, ‘Rocky Road Classic’ 18 km event, Tuesday night. He won with a time of 35:54 minutes. Pat Ferris was second at 38:33 and Bob Andrews third at 41:05. Rod Lewis was 4th at 42:27.
Jolea Bilodeau won a close sprint with Kendra Young to win the women’s race at 42:27 minutes. Barb Polehoykie was third at 41:05.
The ‘Peace View Painfest’ was a new Rocky Road route designed by Rod Lewis and set in the hills of north Taylor. Riders rode through dry packed dirt, loose gravel, ice, mud and water to cover the distance.
Richter pulled away on the long, early hill to come in for his 4th Spring Stage win to lead the 7 race series with 24 points. Pat Ferris is in second with 13 points. Barb Polehoykie leads the women’s event with 23 points.
Next race is a Thursday night Baldonnel time trial at 6 pm.
