Gary Hilderman got a fast start in the technical section, taking out a lead over the chasing Pat Ferris, Trevor McDonnell and Robin Baillie. The lead was now Gary, Pat and Trevor by the time riders reached the ‘Baloney Corner’. The group split with Ferris pulling away on the grassy climb. Robin Baillie caught Pat Ferris soon after.
